Flipkart signs MoU to launch training center for e-commerce logistics

Indian leading e-commerce marketplace, Flipkart has recently announced to have signed an MoU with the LSC (Logistics Skill Sector Council). According to reliable sources, the partnership has allowed Flipkart to launch CoE (Center of Excellence) to develop a skilled and trained workforce for the booming Indian e-commerce sector.

For those unversed, the Logistics Skill Sector Council is an entity introduced by the MSDE (Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship) through the NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation of India) as well as KSDC (Karnataka Skill Development Center).

Flipkart has reportedly co-developed this large-scale Center of Excellence along with KSDC and LSC to train aspirants regarding several logistic processes, such as storage & distribution, material handling, and customer management.

Spreading across an area of 1,500 square feet, Flipkart’s CoE will reportedly be open to aspirants who intend to work in the logistics sector, sources claimed. The newly launched center will primarily focus on the importance of skill development for logistic processes, which will further help in boosting the growth of this business space in the forthcoming years.

Sources further confirmed that the new Center of Excellence will also consist of computers as well as projector-based learning solutions for the all-inclusive development of the candidates.

Apart from covering the essential soft-skills required to interact with customers, the training facility will reportedly also provide an opportunity for candidates to join an apprenticeship program with Flipkart which will be based on the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme, to operate on several aspects of the supply chain industry.

According to Senior VP and Head of Ekart, Amitesh Jha, the company understands the need to have a trained workforce for long-term sustainability in the logistics sector. He added that the e-commerce giant is also aware of its responsibility to develop additional employment opportunities and ensure career advancements through such initiatives.

After completing the training successfully, candidates will be granted certification under the NSFQ (National Skill Qualification Framework), which is notably equivalent to an undergraduate degree, cited sources with relevant information.
