Core Industrial Partners takes over CGI Automated Manufacturing

CORE Industrial Partners LLC, a Chicago-based private equity firm providing capital & operational expertise to manufacturing and industrial businesses, has successfully acquired CGI Automated Manufacturing, a custom precision sheet metal fabrication solutions provider.

As per sources, CGI is CORE's 2nd investment undertaken from the $465 million Industrial Partners Fund II closed in February this year.

CGI, established in 1976, provides wide-ranging in-house manufacturing capabilities, including forming, laser cutting, punching, robotic welding, insertion, CNC machining, and assembly.

The company focuses on short lead times for mid-to-max volume dynamic sheet metal production parts, weldments and assemblies in stainless steel, galvanized, aluminum, hot-rolled, or cold rolled materials from 24 gauge to one inch.

Due to a long history of constantly investing in state-of-the-art equipment and innovative automation, CGI delivers 24/7 lights-out manufacturing capabilities and is the first Company in the US to install the Mitsubishi River Navigation System with two lasers.

CGI serves multiple end markets, including food, lighting, medical and industrials, with a proficiency in the distribution and electrical transmission sector. The Company is ISO 9001:2015 certified and maintains a 62,500 square foot facility on six acres outside Chicago.
