NXP’s Trimension to now allow Samsung users trace their misplaced items

NXP Semiconductors, a Dutch semiconductor manufacturer, has reportedly announced that its Trimension UWB platform is now available to offer fine ranging for new tagging use cases and tracing misplaced items for its Samsung users.

Apparently, Bluetooth Low Energy solutions and UWB have been integrated to offer spatial awareness to the new Samsung Galaxy SmartTag+, delivering an augmented experience and proficiency to the Samsung’s SmartThings Find service.

SmartThings Find is an innovative service in the SmartThings application, available on Galaxy devices, that can help users track or locate the misplaced items near or far. Moreover, it can correctly trace Samsung Galaxy devices and any item like wallet, keys, or backpack, with a Galaxy SmartTag attached through an instinctive tracking interface.

Importantly, with the addition of Galaxy SmartTag+ using Trimension UWB and Bluetooth Low Energy, the users can now leverage the benefits of AR technology to visually guide them towards their missing item using their phone’s camera. This potentially brings the company a step closer to smart connected world where objects are able to communicate through each other to automate, anticipate, and enable new experiences.

Commenting on the latest move, Executive VP and General Manager of Connectivity and Security at NXP Semiconductors, Rafael Sotomayor stated that the firm’s Trimension technology helps provide accuracy and precision when it counts and enables new and future possibilities.

Besides, with collaboration on Galaxy SmartTag+, Samsung once again showcases its commitment to enabling a world of security and convenience via the SmartThings ecosystem; which the company is thrilled to be a part of.

In tandem, Inkang Song, Vice President and Head of Technology Strategy Group, Mobile Communications Business, Samsung electronics mentioned that the key to its advanced offering on SmartTag+ is NXP’s UWB technology, which makes it quite possible to trace the position of an object with higher precision.

Meanwhile, with the addition of SmartTag+, the SmartThings Find experience has become even more robust and powerful, making people’s lives easier, safe, and more convenient.
