Lenskart to hire over 2,000 employees to meet expansion goal by 2022

Lenskart- an Indian optician prescription eyewear retail chain, has announced plans to recruit over 2,000 people by 2022 as it focuses on expanding its business reach in India as well as overseas.

According to a statement, the company will hire close to 1,500 people to manage its retail shops, while over 100 engineers will join the Lenskart operations to support its technology teams in Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.

Notably, the company will also hire nearly 300 people for its supply chain and manufacturing workings coupled with 100 suitable candidates in corporate functions like consumer insights, human resources, merchandising, and finance.

The news follows after a USD 315 million funding the firm recently bagged from prominent investors like Falcon edge Capital, Temasek Holdings, and KKR & Co.

Along with mass hiring in India, Lenskart is also aiming at hiring nearly 300 people in overseas markets in the Middle East, Singapore, and the U.S.

Peyush Bansal, Co-founder, and CEO of Lenskart, says “In July’21, the company was seeking to expand its operations considerably in SouthEast Asia and the MiddleEast. In India, it is focusing on adding 300 new retail stores which will drive the stores' total count to over 1,000, with a majority of them being in India.”

He continued “Lenskart is aiming at growing exponentially in the Indian and international markets through strengthening its online presence and in retail stores. This has also led to the opening of many job opportunities across Lenskart to meet rising customer demands. For the company, hiring is a necessary step to take to meet its expansion needs.”

It is also worth mentioning that the startup has also established a ‘Lenskart Vision Fund’ with an aggregate of USD 20 million to invest in various eye testing startups in the field of eye testing technologies, logistics, omnichannel technology services across in-store automation, marketing, merchandising, supply chain, and deep technology mechanisms for eyewear, e-commerce, and retail.
