Biff’s Plant Shack, a vegan street food restaurant, will launch its first range of products in 280 Waitrose stores starting from 6th April this year. The retail products will include chicken wings alternative made of jackfruit-based recipe containing a vegan bone.
Biff’s stated that the Crispy Fried Chicken Wingz represents the first ever with bone wings made using a sugarcane spear that is proposed to provide an authentic wing eating experience without compromising on its plant-based status.
Reportedly, the Wingz were first made at Biff’s London Street food stall called Biff’s Jack Shack in the year 2017 and ever since, has remained the brand’s famous product.
According to sources, the product has spread its roots into both hospitality and foodservice sectors with listings at BrewDog pubs and Greene King and others along with a varied availability through different home delivery operators.
Biff’s other products in its six strong chilled Waitrose variety includes Smoky Chilli Cheeze Waffle Fries, Crispy Fried Jackfruit Burgers, Banging Bhaji Loaded Fries along with two plant-centric sauces.
Andrew Allen, Chief Executive Officer at Biff’s, stated that while shoppers crave for authentic brands, vibrant flavours, and restaurant style experience at their house, Biff’s authentic street food heritage and advanced products like United Kingdom’s first ever proper vegan wing with a bone signifies that the team is all set to bring vegan food to shelf which is genuine, bold, and commercially proven.
Andrew added that Crispy Fried Burgers and Jackfruit Wingz are sourced from 50 percent jack fruit mixed with herbs, spices, and natural flavourings.
The brand commented that this mix of ingredients showcased that vegan comfort food does not necessarily need to include a batch of unrecognisable products.
Allen further mentioned that the team is excited to work with Waitrose and give the chance to Biff’s fans to make their first plant-based meals.
